Ratebeer Best Awards 2019

We are pleased to announce that, for the second year running, Mad Squirrel has won best brewer in Hertfordshire and best beer in Hertfordshire in the annual Ratebeer best Awards.

Ratebeer.com is a website in which drinkers check in and review beers. It has been running since 2000 and in that time has amassed over 5 milllion individual reviews of beers from around the world. In January/February of every year the website publishes their Ratebeer best lists. These lists highlight the best beers, best brewers, and best places to drink beer by subregion, country and internationally, of the previous 12 months as ranked by the sites users.

In the 2018 awards (released February 2019) we picked up three awards, best brewer by subregion (Hertfordshire), best beer by subregion (Hertfordshire) for $UMO and best place for beer in subregion (Buckinghamshire) for our High Wycombe taproom. Well we are now pleased to announce that in the Ratebeer Best awards 2019 we have retained our title of Hertfordshire's best brewery and Hertfordshire's best beer, although this time we have won it with our double hazelnut milk stout Bust Le Nut, rather than $UMO. High Wycombe has also retained its title for the second year running. Digging a little deeper into the ratings, both our Chesham and Amersham taprooms also made the top ten of places for beer in Bucks (sixth and eighth places) and our Berkhamsted taproom was runner up best place for beer in Herts. Our St. Albans taproom, having only opened in June, did not crack the top ten but we are hopeful it will place well in next years awards, when it has had a whole years worth of trading under its belt.

Winning any award is an honour and and a cause for celebration, but an award given on the basis of a wide base of real drinker reviews is, in our opion one of the very best types to receive. Thank you to the users of Ratebeer for their support across Herts and Bucks.
