Post Run Pale and 5k Fun Run

Share

Back in November we were pleased to announce that we had signed up to take part in Brewgooder’s Global Gathering, a beer industry wide initiative to fund clean water projects in Malawi. Over 250 breweries have signed up to each brew and release their own special beer on the weekend of 20th March and to use this beer to raise at least £500 per brewery towards the cause. We were thrilled to be one of the first breweries to sign up and be a part of such a great project and a worthy cause.

Our Global Gathering release will be called “Post Run Pale”, or PRP for short. PRP is a single hop pale ale, brewed with the hop variety Sabro. This is the first time we have used Sabro in a brew. It is a relatively new American variety that exhibits a complex blend of fruity and citrus flavours including distinct tangerine, coconut, tropical fruit, and stone fruit flavours, with hints of cedar, mint, and cream. In order to help the hop shine, we are not using any other varieties in this brew and letting it go solo. We’re keeping the alcohol content low to make the beer super crushable, just 3.7% a true session brew.

It wouldn’t be a “Post Run Pale”, if there wasn’t a run for it to follow and so as part of our efforts to raise money for the cause we are holding a 5km fun run from our brewery on Saturday 28th March at midday. Entry is just £5 per runner, with all proceeds going to the charity. The run will start and finish outside our taproom at the brewery (Unit 18 Boxted Farm, Berkhamsted Road, Potten End, Herts, HP1 2SG) and will go up through footpaths out of the farm, around Potten End, past the green, down Bulbeggars Lane and then loop up back towards the brewery. The run is flat with just a 30m gradient variance across the whole run, but does take in a variety of terrain including concrete, gravel and grass (or mud!). At the end of the run there will be a free pint of PRP for every runner and each runner will also get entered into a raffle in which they could win a case of cans, the raffle will be held after the run has finished.

Signup for the fun-run is now available through our web shop here. In order to help anticipate numbers we kindly request that all runners intending to take part sign up beforehand. During and after the run our taproom will be open as normal along with our pizza kitchen and so if friends or family want to come down to meet you at the finish-line they are more than welcome!

We really want the Brewgooder Global Gathering to be a success. Beer is best when it is being used as a tool for social change and this is a great chance to get your running shoes on and help bring running water to those who need it most.

See you at the finish line!
